Miraflores Guatemala City Temple dedication: A new beacon of hope in the Land of Eternal Spring

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, the landscape of faith in Central America reached a significant milestone as Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dedicated the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple. This sacred event marks the second temple in Guatemala City and the fourth operating temple in the country, further cementing the region's deep-rooted history of devotion. For many local Saints, the completion of this house of the Lord is a testament to the miracle of temple growth and the enduring power of Temple Miracles in the lives of the faithful.

During the dedicatory prayer, Elder Gong expressed profound gratitude for the generations of faithful members whose sacrifices made the construction of this house of the Lord possible. He noted, "In this land of eternal spring, we are grateful for Jesus Christ, who brings eternal life. We are grateful for His divine mission and His perfect life, including His atoning sacrifice." The atmosphere was one of reverence and joy as members gathered to witness the formal opening of this sacred space, which now stands as a sanctuary for those seeking peace and divine guidance in an often-tumultuous world.

Throughout his remarks, Elder Gong emphasized the unique role the temple plays in strengthening one’s relationship with God. He shared three specific miracles the Lord makes possible through His holy house, highlighting that the temple is a place of hope and healing. For the people of (COUNTRY:Guatemala), this dedication is more than just the completion of a building; it is a fulfillment of long-held hopes and a reflection of the Power of Prayer that has sustained the local membership for decades. As members look toward the future, they find comfort in the promise that the temple provides a way to receive divine help and strengthen their connection to the Savior.

One local member, Victoria Pineda, shared a poignant Testimonies (Why I Believe)) regarding her journey of faith leading up to the dedication. After being diagnosed with a chronic kidney disease over a year ago, Pineda found herself navigating the uncertainty of her health and future. Despite the fear and sadness that accompanied her diagnosis, she turned to the temple as a source of strength. "I have learned that having faith does not mean we will never experience fear, sadness, or difficult moments. For me, having faith has meant continuing to trust in the Lord even when I do not know when the answer will come," she shared. Her experience serves as a powerful reminder of how Faithful Service & Sacrifice and trust in the Lord can provide peace even amidst life's most difficult trials.

This dedication also highlights the rapid expansion of the Church in the region. Since the first temple in Central America was dedicated in Guatemala City in 1984, the growth has been steady and miraculous. Today, the city holds the distinction of being the first in Central America to host two temples, a fact that underscores the spiritual vitality of the local Saints. As Elder Gong noted, the temple is a place where sacred ordinances unite generations, allowing families to receive the blessings of Jesus Christ in this life and for life after death. This Spiritual Conversion and commitment to covenant living continue to be the heartbeat of the Church in Guatemala.

As the doors of the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple open for ordinance work, the faithful are invited to come often to this sacred place. Whether they are seeking comfort, inspiration, or a deeper understanding of their divine potential, the temple stands as a beacon of holiness. In the words of the dedicatory prayer, "Dear Father, please bless all who come with peace and comfort, inspiration and guidance, hope and humility and the ability to forgive and be forgiven." For those who have waited for this day, the temple is truly a house of the Lord, a place where the veil between heaven and earth feels thin, and where the love of the Savior is felt in every room.
