Finding Miracles Through Faith in Jesus Christ During Life's Greatest Trials

In an era defined by rapid change and increasing uncertainty, Latter-day Saints across the globe are finding that the most reliable anchor for the soul is a deliberate, focused faith in Jesus Christ. While general belief in a higher power provides comfort, recent messages from Church leadership emphasize that it is specifically our faith in Jesus Christ—His Atonement, His character, and His promises—that invites the greatest manifestations of divine power into our daily lives. As we navigate the complexities of mortality, this targeted devotion serves as a catalyst for the miracles we seek.

Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles recently highlighted the transformative nature of this principle, noting that courage is a direct byproduct of our commitment to the Savior. In his October 2026 address, he shared the story of Rosemary Chibota, who discovered a pamphlet about the Prophet Joseph Smith as a teenager in Zimbabwe. Upon reading it, she received a profound spiritual witness that Joseph had indeed seen God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. This initial spark of belief grew into a lifelong foundation of courage. Elder Andersen observed, As we manifest our courage to choose the right, our faith in Christ strengthens. This testimony reminds us that our spiritual journey is not merely about enduring, but about actively building a relationship with the Savior that sustains us through every season of life (PAGE:TESTIMONIES).

For many, the concept of faith in Jesus Christ is often tested during moments of deep personal trial. Elder Joaquin E. Costa of the Seventy has taught that while we may sometimes feel that having faith in Jesus Christ is an impossible task, it is precisely that faith that provides the energy to begin the journey. He noted, Faith in Jesus Christ is the feeling of peace to withstand the storm, knowing that He is with us. This perspective shifts our focus from demanding immediate relief to trusting in the Savior’s timing and wisdom. When we center our lives on Him, we find that even when miracles do not arrive in the way we expect, we are granted the strength to endure with hope (CATEGORY:Power of Prayer).

History and scripture are replete with examples of those who found deliverance by looking to the Savior. President Camille N. Johnson, Relief Society General President, recently reflected on the account of the man with palsy whose friends lowered him through a roof to reach the Master. She noted, With faith in Jesus Christ and hope in what they had heard of His miracles, the caregivers of a man with palsy brought him to Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man with palsy, thy sins are forgiven thee. This account illustrates that the Savior is concerned with both our physical and spiritual well-being. By seeking Him, we find the ultimate relief from the burdens of sin and the infirmities of mortality (CATEGORY:Healing / Medical Reversal & Remission).

To cultivate this kind of faith, we must move beyond passive belief. As we learn in our General Conference archives, faith is a bond of trust and loyalty. It requires us to make and keep covenants, which in turn builds hope and deepens our connection to the Lord. Elder George A. Cook has shared that exercising faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ, helps us overcome discouragement no matter what obstacles we encounter. Whether we are facing clinical depression, financial strain, or the loss of a loved one, the act of just keeping going with faith in Christ is a powerful, active form of worship (CATEGORY:Survival).

As we look to the future, we are promised that the Savior will continue to manifest His power in the lives of the faithful. President Russell M. Nelson has stated, In coming days, we will see the greatest manifestations of the Savior’s power that the world has ever seen. He will bestow countless privileges, blessings, and miracles upon the faithful. This promise is not reserved for a select few but is available to all who choose to rivet their focus on Jesus Christ. By living a covenant life—through prayer, scripture study, and temple worship—we prepare ourselves to receive these blessings (CATEGORY:Temple Miracles).

Ultimately, our faith in Jesus Christ is the bridge between our current struggles and the peace we desire. As we continue to study His teachings and strive to emulate His character, we find that He is indeed the Great Deliverer. Whether our miracles come immediately or await the Resurrection, we can move forward with the assurance that we are never alone. By choosing to talk of Christ, think of Christ, and rely on Christ, we transform our trials into testimonies of His enduring love and power (PAGE:TEACHINGS).
