While waiting at the Newcastle Railway Station to travel to Stockton, Elder William R. Webb was approached by the husband of a lady who had previously been very bitter against the Latter-day Saints. The lady sent money to cover Webb's railway fare, and the amount was doubled by her husband by the time he delivered it to the Elder.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 42, No. 41 (11 October 1880), p. 653):
Elder William R. Webb, writing from Newcastle, says: 'While waiting at the Newcastle railway station to travel to Stockton, I was approached by the husband of a lady who had previously been very bitter against the Latter-day Saints. She had sent me money to pay my railway fare, and the amount was doubled by her husband by the time he delivered it to me.'
