In 1841, while living in Taunton, Somerset, England, William Lang, a shoemaker, experienced a prophetic dream that prepared him for his conversion. In the dream, he saw two men approaching his home and felt a powerful spiritual impression that they were bringing the true gospel of Jesus Christ. Shortly thereafter, Elder John Halliday and his missionary companion arrived at Lang's door. William recognized them immediately as the men from his vision. This divine manifestation convinced him and his wife, Mary Pugsley Lang, of the truth of the message, leading to their baptism and eventual emigration to Utah.

Recording note: This account is preserved in Lindau Merrill Riggs, 'William Lang,' Daughters of Utah Pioneers History Collection, and summarized in 'Saint George, Utah Original Pioneers,' 352. Neither source is available in a public online archive, so no verbatim first-person text of the dream is included here.
