Following his missionary work on Fox Islands, Wilford Woodruff found that three individuals had become disaffected after being influenced by Mr. Douglass, who claimed Woodruff denied the Bible. These three people were possessed by evil influences and were in great affliction. Woodruff instructed them in the principles of the Gospel and administered to them, upon which they were delivered from the evil influence.

In Their Own Words

“The next day I baptized three persons. A few days subsequently I had ample evidence of the fact that lying spirits had gone out in the world, for three persons whom I had baptized had been visited by Mr. Douglass, who told them that I denied the Bible, and could not be depended upon; and they yielded to his insinuations until the devil took possession of them, and they were in a disaffected state of mind, and sent for me. When I met them they were in great affliction; but when I instructed them more perfectly in the principles of the Gospel, and administered to them, they were delivered from the evil influence and rejoiced. I felt to thank God for this manifestation of His power, and for the deliverance of these persons from the power of the adversary.”
