After an open-air meeting in Liverpool where President Heber J. Grant and several Elders bore testimony and expounded the Gospel, a Wesleyan Methodist preacher who had been questioning the Elders expressed his satisfaction with their answers and acknowledged that their doctrine was scriptural.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 68, No. 36 (September 6, 1906), p. 571):
President Heber J. Grant and Elders R. Eugene Allen, Walter E. Grant, Robert Price, Ben C. Rich, Edgar E. Petterborg, Elbert H. Barlow, David R. Tolman, and William A. Morten held an open-air meeting in Liverpool on Sunday, August 26th. The Elders bore testimony and expounded the Gospel to a large and attentive audience. A Wesleyan Methodist preacher, who had been questioning the Elders, expressed his satisfaction with the answers given, and acknowledged that the doctrine taught by the Elders was scriptural.
In Their Own Words
“Chief among the questioners was a Wesleyan Methodist preacher, who stated that he was seeking for truth. He expressed his satisfaction with the answers which the Elders had given to his questions, and arranged for another meeting with them. "Your doctrine," he said, "is certainly scriptural." — Millennial Star 68:36”
