Telemachus Rogers suffered from poor health for years due to a creature living inside his stomach. While in a canyon on August 15, 1868, after returning from railroad work, he began vomiting blood. He later succeeded in swallowing buttermilk, which caused him to vomit the creature. The creature was four inches and three-quarters long, one inch and three-quarters broad, and appeared to have a new head forming on the back of its own head.
In Their Own Words
“At half-past one p.m. on the 15th, he was in the canon on his way home from the railroad, where he had been working, when he commenced vomiting blood, which continued at intervals until he reached home in the evening. Doctor Woodward came to see him, and tried to administer medicine to him, but he could not swallow it. There was something in his throat which had been flopping about in his stomach, producing the most painful sensations, from the time he commenced bleeding. He tried to eat, but could not; he finally succeeded in swallowing some buttermilk ; this caused him to vomit, and this creature fell on to the ground. — Millennial Star 30:39”
