A Shoshone chief named Alma, after being baptized, predicted to D. B. Huntington that the conversion of Indians would transition from occasional baptisms to continuous ones, involving hundreds and thousands from all tribes over the course of many years.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 37, No. 26, 28 June 1875, p. 411):

Alma, a Shoshone chief, who has been baptized, said to D. B. Huntington, that the time had come for the Lamanites to be baptized, and that it would not be by ones and twos, but by hundreds and thousands, and that they would come from all the tribes, and that it would continue for many years.

In Their Own Words

“One of them a tall, rather fine-looking Shoshone chief, named Alma predicted to brother Huntington, after he came out of the water, that the baptizing would soon not be occasional, as now, but that it would progress all the time, from morning till night, that the various tribes would come by hundreds and thousands, instead of a few at a time, and that it would take years to baptize all who would come, for all the Indians would eventually be included in the movement. — Millennial Star 37:26”
