While traveling from Weston, Missouri, to the Plains in July 1854, Elder Samuel W. Richards was suddenly stricken with extreme pain, vomiting, and purging, which he recognized as cholera symptoms. After suffering for one day, the condition persisted only for a total of two days before he was entirely recovered, which he attributed to the Lord acting as his daily protector.
In Their Own Words
“My health is now very good, and has been, with the exception of one day, when I was taken with extreme pain, vomiting, purging, and as many Cholera symptoms as were particularly desirable to have at one time. The effects of it only lasted two days, and I am now fresh for the Plains, thank the Lord, who is my daily protector. — Millennial Star 16:37”
