While preaching on the first principles of the Gospel, Elder John Taylor met a sister who had been baptized and reported that she had seen in a dream a number of Saints, including Elder Taylor, on board a ship at a dock ready to sail for America.

Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):

I was preaching in this city, on the first principles of the Gospel, and had not even mentioned the subject of gathering, when a sister who had been baptized, told me, that she had seen, in a dream, a number of Saints, and I among them, on board a ship at dock ready to sail for America, and wished to know the meaning of it, which I promised to explain at a future time. I have since explained it to her, and she is now on her way to the land of Zion.

In Their Own Words

“I was preaching in this city, on the first principles of the Gospel, and had not even mentioned the subject of gathering, when a sister who had been baptized, told me, that she had seen, in a dream, a number of Saints, and I among them, on board a ship at dock ready to sail for America, and wished to know the meaning of it, which I promised to explain at a future time. — Millennial Star 19:12”
