The Saints in Aleppo, Syria, under the leadership of President J. Wilford Booth, successfully broke the tobacco habit with the help of the Lord, who blessed and sustained them in their efforts to live more worthily.

Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):

With a few exceptions the Saints in Aleppo have left off the tobacco habit, and old and young are rejoicing in the fact that they have come out victorious in the struggle. It is inspiring to hear them tell how the Lord has blessed and sustained them in their efforts. We have had some very interesting meetings, and the Spirit of the Lord has been poured out upon us in a marked degree. The Saints are growing in faith and are striving to live up to the requirements of the Gospel.

In Their Own Words

“With a few exceptions the Saints in Aleppo have left off the tobacco habit, and old and young are rejoicing in the fact that they have come out victorious in the struggle. It is inspiring to hear them tell how the Lord has blessed and sustained them in their efforts. — Millennial Star 66:30”
