In Tennessee, a sister had a dream in which she saw a young man named 'Elder P.' and saw his appearance perfectly. When a new elder, Elder R., arrived, she was disappointed because he was not the one she saw in her dream. Shortly after, another elder arrived, and the sister recognized him immediately as the 'Elder P.' from her dream. He then announced his name was Elder P., and the sister rejoiced in the Lord's manifestation.

Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Young Woman's Journal, vol. 18 no. 6 (June 1907)):

Two of our Elders who were laboring in the State of Tennessee were visiting with a family of saints when Bro. R— arrived at his mission headquarters, and was directed to this home. The elders and saints were curiously awaiting the arrival of the “new elder,” for they had been apprised of his coming, but were not given his name, nor were they acquainted with him. The reason for their curiosity was a dream given to the good sister of the home, in which she had seen a young man whose name was given her as “Elder P—,” and whose appearance she described perfectly. When Elder R— arrived there was considerable disappointment on the part of the sister, who immediately inquired if he knew of an elder in the mission by the name of “P—,” to which she received a reply in the negative. Shortly after this another elder reached headquarters and was directed to the same home, to join Elder R— and his two companions. As he approached the house he was seen from a distance by the woman, who remarked to the elders, “I believe that is Elder P—.” As he came nearer she exclaimed, “That’s Elder P—.” And when he stood before them and so announced himself, there was joy unspeakable, especially in the heart of the sister, whom the Lord had thus favored before the elder left his home in Utah.
