The mother of W.A.M. prophesied that Mr. P, who had unfairly evicted them from a house they had improved, would eventually come out of that house with handcuffs on his wrists. Years later, after Mr. P fell into straightened circumstances, he turned to forgery and was arrested and taken to prison with handcuffs, fulfilling the prophecy.

In Their Own Words

“When handing back the key to Mr. P he said: ‘There is your house, Mr. P: you can go and live in it; but before you do so I want to tell you that you will yet come out of that house with a pair of handcuffs upon your wrists.’ ... One morning after this the community was shocked with the report that Mr. P had turned forger, and the same day two constables came to his house, arrested him, put a pair of handcuffs upon his wrists, and marched him off to prison. — The Young Woman's Journal 6:5”
