During the final stages of World War II, as enemy forces approached the neighborhood of the East German Mission home at Rathenowerstrasse 52 in Berlin, Paul Langheinrich confronted a Russian soldier who was attempting to enter the building with apparent evil intentions. Langheinrich successfully stared down the soldier, preventing him from entering and protecting the women and refugees housed within.
