During a severe thunderstorm on July 17, 1880, in Liverpool, lightning struck two houses on Beaumont Street (numbers 20 and 22), occupied by Mrs. E. Beckett and Mrs. M. A. Wright. The lightning penetrated through the roof and splintered the woodwork, but neither woman was injured.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 42, No. 30 (26 July 1880), p. 475):
On Saturday, July 17th, during a severe thunderstorm, the lightning struck two houses in Beaumont Street, Liverpool, Nos. 20 and 22, occupied by Mrs. E. Beckett and Mrs. M. A. Wright. The fluid passed through the roof, and splintered the woodwork in the rooms, but, providentially, neither of the sisters was injured.
In Their Own Words
“About the same time, two houses, 20 and 22, Beaumont Street, occupied by Mrs. E. Beckett and Mrs. M. A. Wright respectively, were struck by lightning, which entered the bedrooms through the roof and splintered the woodwork. No persons were injured. — Millennial Star 42:30”
