A man, while crossing a mountain near Parley's Park, was swept away by an avalanche. He was carried half a mile on top of the moving snow which splintered large trees in its path, yet he escaped completely unhurt, losing only one snow-shoe.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, 31 March 1884 (Vol. 46, No. 13), p. 207):
A man, while crossing a mountain near Parley's Park, was swept away by an avalanche. He was carried half a mile on top of the moving snow which splintered large trees in its path, yet he escaped completely unhurt, losing only one snow-shoe.
In Their Own Words
“A man while crossing a mountain near Parley’s Park lately, was carried half a mile on the top of an avalanche which tore up large trees in its descent and ground them to splinters, and yet, strange to relate, he escaped unhurt, with only the loss of one snow-shoe. — Millennial Star 46:13”
