John Parry, upon being appointed a counsellor to Elder Abel Evans in the Welsh District in January 1866, felt his own weakness and requested a blessing from President F. D. Richards. He states that the word predicted upon him at that time was fully realized to his greatest satisfaction, noting that during his three-year mission in Wales, approximately 1,000 people were added to the Church through baptism and 600 were emigrated to Zion.
In Their Own Words
“At the General Conference held in Birmingham, January 1866, I was appointed by President B. Young, jun., to be a counsellor to Elder Abel Evans, who succeeded Elder W. D. Williams in the Welsh District. As I felt my weakness to bear the responsibility placed upon me, I requested your blessing, and truly that word which was predicted upon me was fully realized to my greatest satisfaction. I am pleased to see the result of our united labors under the blessing of Almighty God. In the last three years in Wales, about 1,000 persons have been added to the Church through baptism, and about 600 have been emigrated to the land of Zion, which I feel to give the honor and praise to our heavenly Father.”
