During a time of severe illness, Mr. Wheeler was told by his doctor that he was likely to die. His daughter Jennie, relying on her testimony and belief in prayer, told him, “Papa you will not die, I feel that God will spare you to us yet.” Mr. Wheeler later recovered and acknowledged that Jennie's prediction had been fulfilled, attributing his survival to it.

In Their Own Words

“When Mr. Wheeler began to give directions to be followed after his death, Jennie said, “Papa you will not die, I feel that God will spare you to us yet.” “If God hears prayers, I know he will hear my Jennie’s,” was the father’s reply; but even those who are prayed for die, my little girl “True papa, but those who seek very earnestly to know God’s will may sometimes have testimony concerning their loved ones; and 1 am sure He will spare your life,” she said as she soothed his throbbing, aching brow. ... As he entered the pretty parlor he said jokingly to Fenton, “This little Mormon prophet of yours said I should not die and here I am in fulfillment of her prediction.” — The Young Woman's Journal 7:4”
