Lamanite Indians living on a farm at Bear River, Utah, have shared their testimonies with Bishop Henry Hughes. They reported seeing heavenly messengers, having dreams, and experiencing visions, leading many to be baptized and return to their respective tribes to share these spiritual manifestations.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 39, No. 31, 30 July 1877, p. 494):

Bishop Henry Hughes, of Mendon, writes that a number of Lamanites, living on a farm at Bear River, have been baptized. They testify that they have seen heavenly messengers, and have had dreams and visions, which have caused them to repent and be baptized, and they have returned to their tribes to tell their brethren of the things they have seen and heard.

In Their Own Words

“The Indians immediately surrounding us are very peaceable, there are about three hundred on the Indian farm at Bear River, Box Elder County. They have planted about 100 acres of wheat, 75 of corn, 15 of squash, and 25 of potatoes, this season, and have the prospect of raising a good crop. Many Indians have come to see how things were moving on the farm, many of them from far distant tribes, and they bear testimony that they have seen heavenly messengers, and had dreams and visions. They have been told that the “Mormons” were their friends, so many have been baptized and returned to their various tribes, rejoicing in the Gospel, and bearing testimony of what they have seen and heard. — Millennial Star 39:31”
