R. W. Heyborne returned home from his mission to find his wife and youngest child suffering from severe illness, which had persisted since April 1873. He records that a 'quite a change is apparent for the better' following his return.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 36, No. 48, 1 December 1874, p. 764):

I arrived home on the 23rd of September, and found my wife and youngest child suffering from severe illness, which had been their condition since April 1873. I am happy to say that since my return, quite a change is apparent for the better.

In Their Own Words

“On my arrival home I found my wife and youngest child very much cast down with sickness, the former having been in a very delieate state of health ever since my departure in April, 1873, but thanks be to the dispencer of every good gift, I am able to say quite a change is apparent for the better, which I trust will continue.— Millennial Star 36:48”
