President George A. Smith suffered from a severe sickness and was on the brink of death. Through the prayers of the Saints, he was raised up as if from the dead.
In Their Own Words
“I visited Prest. Geo. A. Smith on yesterday, and I was much pleased to see him so far recovered from his late sickness. I look upon it as a life given to the Church from the dead, in his case. He is one of those men who are full of integrity and we could not afford to lose him, and God raised him up as it were from the dead, in answer to the prayers of the Saints, and I think that all those who were acquainted with his condition so view it. — Millennial Star 37:28”
