In 2006, when I lived in the Ashburn Virginia Stake, in the suburbs of Washington, DC, we put on a wonderful production of “The Savior of the World.” “Savior of the World” is an amazing musical production which combines acting and music. The play is about our Savior, Jesus Christ: a testimony to his birth, life, death, and resurrection.

The following is an experience related to me and the rest of the cast by Stin Hansen, one of the members of the musical:

“I spent the final dress rehearsal in between hallways and nurseries with my 3-year-old, Lucy, who could just never really get into the whole thing. During a hallway moment, I passed a man in a leather jacket talking to someone on his cell phone about how he had no idea where he was — just ‘some sort of Mormon church, where people are walking around in white dresses.’ After a few ‘upset at being lost’ non-Mormon-approved expletives about pulling into a church off the freeway to figure out where he was, he got off the phone. I explained that he had stumbled upon a play about Jesus and that he should go and watch it. Over an hour later, I made my first appearance of the night, just in time for the closing number. There was my new-found friend in the dark, his eyes welling with tears. When the lights went up he was gone. What are the odds that fate would bring him off the freeway to our building at that moment? And what are the odds that he would stay?”

In thinking about this experience, it reminds me of the scripture: “By small and simple things great things shall come to pass.” This experience is a combination of a number of small and simple things! God has a plan for each of us, and when we least expect it he reaches out to us and lets us know that he is there for us. Jesus is our guide, our Master; he knows our needs and puts people in our path to make us stronger! This is my testimony this day!
