At a cottage meeting in Manchester during the summer of 1886, a young brother prophesied that Brother Maddock, who was in poverty and distress, would see his family gathered to the Rocky Mountains before the year ended. Despite initial obstacles and the family remaining behind when the father first departed, the means arrived miraculously just before the end of the year, fulfilling the prophecy.
In Their Own Words
“One summer evening in the year 1886 the writer attended a meeting at the home of Brother Maddock, at Manchester... Following him, a young brother stood up and filled with the Spirit of the Lord prophesied that before the year should close upon them, the entire family should cross the mighty deep and be safely located in the Rocky mountains... Just as the season was almost over, word came that means for their emigration had been sent. They, too were remembered of the Lord, and in His own way He gathered them all to Zion. The prophecy was realized before the dawning of the new year. — Millennial Star 64:48”
