Elder's Dream of Catching Fish in the Gospel Net

“I have been laboring in this town for about three weeks, and have met with considerable opposition from the ministers and others, who have tried to prevent the people from hearing the truth, but I am happy to say that their efforts have been in vain, for the Lord has blessed my labors, and I have been enabled to bear a faithful testimony to the people, and I feel that there are some honest souls here who are seeking after the truth. I was strengthened in that impression by the following dream I had while on that visit. I dreamed that I was standing on a bridge, looking at a clear stream of water, and the question suggested itself to me, Are there any fish in this water? I thought I had a fishing rod and line in my hand, and I threw the baited hook and line into the water, I had no sooner done so, than I saw several pretty looking little fish going after the bait. One of them swallowed it, and as I was raising it from the water I awoke. I inferred from my dream that there might be some fish caught in the Gospel net in that town, and I have been encouraged to persevere in my labors, and as in fulfillment of my dream, five fish have been caught in the Gospel net in this place since I came here, all of whom seem to be promising Latter-day Saints.”
