During a period of anti-Mormon hostility in Birkenhead, elders attended a meeting at the local hall while a large, violent, and angry crowd surrounded the building. After the meeting, the elders exited the building and passed through the hostile crowd entirely unnoticed and unharmed.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 73, No. 17 (April 27, 1911), p. 267):
At Birkenhead, Elders R. W. Young, Jr., J. T. Williams, and S. J. Madsen were holding a meeting in a hall, when a large, angry mob gathered outside, intent on doing them harm. When the meeting was over, the elders walked out through the crowd, and, though they were in plain sight, they were not recognized or molested in any way.
In Their Own Words
“Shortly after the close of the meeting the elders left the building, and in a most miraculous manner wended their way through the crowd, unnoticed and unattacked. — Millennial Star 73:17”
