While departing a village in Zara after baptizing three new converts, Elder A. L. Larson and the presiding Elder Nishan Sherinian were accosted by a group of people who threw stones at them. One stone thrown by a Mohammedan was the size of a double fist, but the missionaries escaped without being hit, as the attackers were blinded to the missionaries' actions.

In Their Own Words

“As Nishan and I were leaving the village, a number of stones came whizzing through the air, but none were effectual. One stone thrown by a Mohammedan was as large as a double fist. I feared that we should be discovered and our work disturbed, but their eyes proved to be blind to what we were going to do. We walked on, and they continued to throw, but they did not hit us. We felt that the Lord was with us, and that He had blinded their eyes, so that they could not see us, although we were in plain sight of them. We reached our destination in safety, and thanked the Lord for His protecting care.”
