Elder A. H. Cannon, serving in Germany, testified that while attempting to learn the German language for missionary work, he felt that he was blessed by the Lord with rapid progress because his purpose was to serve in the kingdom of God.

In Their Own Words

“Since my arrival here I have done my utmost to gain a knowledge of the German language, and I am happy ta be able to say that I have been blessed in my endeavors. I realize that were I studying with any other purpose in view than that of being useful in the kingdom of God, my progress would not have been so rapid; but the Lord knows it is my desire to proclaim the Gospel to the inhabitants here, and therefore He has assisted me in my studies, for which I feel exceedingly grateful. — Millennial Star 42:20”
