Elder Hasler, while tracting in Stuttgart for the first time without money, encountered a man who owned a restaurant. After Hasler told him the story of the coming of the angel to Joseph Smith, the man became deeply interested and requested that the story be repeated to his children; subsequently, the entire family was prepared for baptism.

Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 63, No. 13, 28 March 1901, p. 205):

Elder Hasler, while tracting in Stuttgart for the first time without money, encountered a man who owned a restaurant. After Hasler told him the story of the coming of the angel to Joseph Smith, the man became deeply interested and requested that the story be repeated to his children; subsequently, the entire family was prepared for baptism.

In Their Own Words

“The day I left Stuttgart all the Elders had a fine dinner at a restaurant owned by a man whom Elder Hasler found the first day he went out tracting in that city without money. He told the gentleman the story of the coming of the Angel to the Prophet Joseph. The man was so much interested in it that when his children came in he had Brother Hasler repeat it to them, and now the whole family are ready for baptism. — Millennial Star 63:13”
