While serving as a missionary in Belfast, Ireland, Elder Dalton found himself in need of funds to continue his mission due to a financial panic in the United States. He went to the top of Cave Hill and prayed for help. Upon finishing, a still, small voice of the Holy Spirit told him, 'You shall receive money in the second letter that you shall get from home.' Two weeks later, a letter arrived containing a check for one hundred dollars. It was revealed that at the exact time of his prayer on the mountain, a lady seven thousand miles away was inspired to send him that exact sum, despite having had a neighbor ask to borrow it from her just hours before.

Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 69, No. 39 (1907), page 615):

Without acquainting his fellow-Elders of his intention, he repaired one morning to the top of the Cave Hill, a mountain overlooking Belfast Lough, and there in humble prayer he besought the Lord to send him assistance to enable him to fill the mission to which he had been called by His divinely-appointed servants. No sooner had he finished his petition when the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit spoke to him saying, 'You shall receive money in the second letter that you shall get from home.' Two weeks passed by, when the anxiously looked for letter arrived, and on opening it Elder Dalton was almost overwhelmed with joy at beholding a check for one hundred dollars. He afterwards learned that at the very moment when he was engaged in prayer on the mountain top, the good woman, almost seven thousand miles away, was impressed by the Spirit of the Lord to impart of her substance for the relief of His servant. She had intended to send the money earlier, but a neighbor had called upon her and borrowed a sum of money, which had depleted her funds, and she had to wait until she could again replenish her purse. The inspiration came to her, however, at the exact time Elder Dalton was praying, and she immediately sent the money, which reached him in the second letter he received after his prayer.
