Elders J. W. F. Volker and P. J. Lammers held meetings in Hereween, Holland, where they were followed by a hostile crowd of about two hundred people. Despite being threatened and one local brother being knocked down twice, the Elders were protected by the hand of the Lord and were accompanied by a policeman until they reached safety.
In Their Own Words
“We held a meeting in the evening at the house of a brother in Hereween. The room was crowded, and many were outside. We had a good time, and the Spirit of the Lord was with us. After the meeting we went out and were followed by about two hundred or more people, mostly roughs, but the hand of the Lord was over us, and a policeman went with us. We had to walk about half an hour, and the crowd followed us up to the house, but after yelling and threatening they separated and departed, it being about 11-30 p.m. They knocked one of the local brethren down twice, but did not hurt him. We feel thankful to the Lord for His protection, and we know that He is with us in our labors.”
