During the autumn of 1865, Saints arriving in Utah were detained on the road. Through the prayers of the Saints, the Lord averted dangerous storms and provided magnificent weather, allowing the final teams to travel safely across the plains to Utah.

Fuller account of this event (as retold in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 28, No. 2, January 13, 1866, p. 25):

The Lord has heard and answered the prayers of the Saints in behalf of the emigration, and has averted the storms that are in the mountains at this season. The weather has been remarkably fine, and the roads have been in a good condition for the time of year, which has enabled the companies to travel with much greater speed and comfort than they otherwise could have done. We feel to acknowledge the hand of the Lord in this, and to thank Him for His kindness and mercy to His people.

In Their Own Words

“The Lord has heard and answered the prayers of the Saints in behalf of the emigration, and has averted the storms that are in the mountains at this season. — Millennial Star 28:2”
