Indian Joe and his band of Lamanites in Thistle Valley expressed a desire to be baptized after feeling the influence of a power upon their minds. Fifty-two adults were baptized and ten children were blessed by Bishop Tucker and Bishop Seely.
Fuller account of this event (the complete account as preserved in The Latter-day Saints' Millennial Star, Vol. 37, No. 28 (12 July 1875), p. 443):
Indian Joe and his band of Lamanites in Thistle Valley, expressed a desire to be baptized, having felt the influence of a power upon their minds, which they could not resist. Fifty-two adults were baptized, and ten children were blessed, by Bishops Tucker and Seely, assisted by D. C. Roberts and Frank Bigelow.
In Their Own Words
“It was certainly a remarkable phenomena to see and hear the red men teil of the action of some power upon their minds. After some brief talk by the home missionaries, which was listened to with decorum, there was a general expression on the part of the Indians in favor of being baptized. [...] The results are with him who has evidently worked on the hearts of his children, and who shall measure his power? — Millennial Star 37:28”
