After returning to Copenhagen from a visit to Liverpool, C. Widerborg was struck with a heavy attack of rheumatism, fever, and a sore chest accompanied by a heavy cough. While he was bedridden and suffering, he attributed his ability to continue dictating correspondence and church materials and his eventual improvement in health to the blessing and goodness of the Lord.
Fuller account of this event (in the witness’s own words):
After my return from Liverpool, I was taken with a heavy attack of rheumatism, fever, and a sore chest, accompanied by a heavy cough. I have been confined to my bed for some time, and have suffered a great deal. Beside that fever in my body, accompanied with the flying rheumatic pains, my chest was exceedingly sore, and a heavy cough troubled me very much. By proper nursing and medicine, I got rid of the fever, the cough abated, and now I am beginning to feel better, thanks be to the Lord. To-day and yesterday I have been up some time, and to-day I tried to write these lines to you. One thing I have reason to be grateful for in my sickness, that I have had so much strength that I have been able to dictate the manuscript for our Star, also to dictate answers to business letters, &c., so the duties of every day have been attended to.
In Their Own Words

By proper nursing and medicine, I got rid of the fever, the cough abated, and now I am beginning to feel better, thanks be to the Lord. To-day and yesterday I have been up some time, and to-day I tried to write these lines to you. One thing I have reason to be grateful for in my sickness, that I have had so much strength that I have been able to dictate the manuscript for our Star, also to dictate answers to business letters, &c., so the duties of every day have been attended to. — Millennial Star 30:31”
