A brother in the Church residing in Salt Lake City was called by President Brigham Young to settle in Southern Utah. Distressed by the call and struggling with the prospect of leaving, he received a visionary dream of a hymn book. He opened it to page 32 and read a comforting hymn, the first line of which was 'Peace, troubled soul'. This experience relieved his despondency and strengthened him to fulfill his mission in St. George.

In Their Own Words

“While in this frame of mind, he one night fell asleep and dreamed that the Latter-day Saint’s hymn book was presented to him, and after reading a hymn which afforded great comfort, feeling that it was an answer to his prayer, he awakened, but could remember no word of the song; but, strange to say, the number of the page upon which it was found was readily recalled. The beginning is “Peace, troubled soul.” (Page 32 of the sixteenth edition of Hymn Book.) — The Young Woman's Journal 10:8”
