Anna, who was married in the Salt Lake Temple, described experiencing a distinct spirit of peace upon entering the holy shrine. She felt she was 'Nearer my God to Thee' and that the ceremony performed by the noble, white-haired man gave her a taste of heaven and a perfect happiness without flaw or blemish.

In Their Own Words

“On speaking of it afterward to a dear friend, Anna said: ‘I felt that a spirit of peace rested om me as soon as we entered that holy shrine, and all day, as I walked through the beautiful rooms, hearing those great truths explained with such sweet simplicity, I felt like singing in my heart, ‘ Nearer my God to Thee,’ for I felt nearer than ever before. Then, after all was past, and we knelt over the altar and lis-tened to that noble, white-haired man solemnly repeat the ceremony that made us man and wife; I think the quiet, peaceful joy that stole into my heart was a little taste of heaven. It was what I should call a ‘ perfect hap-piness’—being without flaw or blemish, or tiny spot to mar its divine beauty.” — The Young Woman's Journal 3:3”
