During his 1854 mission to Siam (Thailand), Elam Luddington faced intense opposition while attempting to preach the gospel. In his reports, he documented that he was stoned by opponents on two separate occasions and was poisoned once. Despite these violent attempts on his life, he survived and eventually returned to Utah in 1855.
