While serving as a missionary in the Near East, Ferdinand F. Hintze received a powerful, distinct impression regarding the establishment of a Latter-day Saint colony in Palestine. Hintze recorded that the idea came to him with 'much force' and subsequently communicated the proposal to Apostle Franklin D. Richards, suggesting it would be a good plan for the Church to settle in the region.
