Hugh J. Cannon — Divine Protection during Near East Travels

In 1921, while traveling through Syria and toward the Armenian Mission, Hugh J. Cannon and David O. McKay faced significant dangers due to post-war political instability and local uprisings. Cannon recorded that they felt 'divinely led' to alter their itinerary on several occasions, avoiding areas where violence subsequently broke out. He specifically noted an instance in Aleppo where they were granted safe passage and protection despite the high tension and presence of armed groups, attributing their safety to the Lord's intervention to ensure the completion of their mission.
