Anson Call — Preservation During Missouri Mobbing

In 1838, during the height of the Missouri persecutions, Anson Call was captured by a mob near Far West. He was subjected to a brutal beating with a hickory gad by men including George M. Hinkle. Call recorded that during this ordeal, he felt a divine presence and strength that allowed him to endure the violence. Despite the severity of the assault, which was intended to be fatal or permanently disabling, Call was miraculously preserved and eventually managed to escape to safety with his life.
