On the night of June 26, 1844, while imprisoned in Carthage Jail, Joseph Smith heard a disturbance and spoke to Dan Jones. Joseph prophesied to him: 'Dan, is that you? ... I have a word for you. You will yet see Wales and fulfill the mission appointed you before you die.' Despite the immediate danger of the mob, Jones survived the events at Carthage and later led a highly successful mission to Wales, baptizing thousands, exactly as Joseph had predicted.
