Ruth Elizabeth Greenhalgh — Miraculous Recovery on the Plains

In 1866, while traveling with the Joseph S. Rawlins Company, infant Ruth Elizabeth Greenhalgh became dangerously ill. Her mother, Elizabeth Ingham Greenhalgh, was told by others in the company that the child would likely not survive the night. Fearing her daughter would be buried in an unmarked grave on the trail, the mother sought a Priesthood blessing for the baby. Following the administration by the elders, the infant's fever broke immediately, and she made a sudden recovery, surviving the remainder of the trek to the Salt Lake Valley.
