Bibliography Research
Following the arrival of the pioneer companies in the Salt Lake Valley, Lorenzo's first wife, Susannah Wallace Roundy, fell dangerously ill. The manuscript history by Elsie Barker Fitts records that Lorenzo, exercising his faith and the authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood, administered a healing blessing to his wife. The account states that Susannah experienced a remarkable and immediate recovery from her ailment, which the family documented as a direct answer to prayer and a manifestation of the power of the priesthood during the difficult early years of the Utah settlement.
