William Davenport — Healing During the Mormon Battalion March

While serving as a blacksmith for Company B of the Mormon Battalion, William Davenport became severely afflicted with mountain fever and physical exhaustion during the trek through the Southwest. His condition deteriorated to the point where he could no longer walk or perform his duties, and he feared he would perish in the wilderness. He requested a blessing from the elders of the company. According to his personal history, he experienced an immediate and remarkable recovery following the administration, regaining his strength instantly. He was able to resume his march and his vital work repairing the company's equipment, eventually reaching California in good health.
