Charles L. Seegmiller — The Mysterious Stranger and the Lost Horses

Ella J. Seegmiller recorded a family account involving her father, Charles L. Seegmiller, who had lost his horses in the rugged wilderness of Southern Utah. The loss of a team was a life-threatening situation for a pioneer. After an exhaustive and unsuccessful search, Charles was approached by a mysterious stranger in a remote area. The man, who appeared suddenly and seemed out of place, gave Charles precise directions to a specific, hidden location where the horses would be found. When Charles turned to thank the man, the stranger had vanished instantly. Charles followed the directions and found the horses exactly where the man had described. This account is preserved as a classic 'Three Nephite' ministration within the Seegmiller family records.
