In 1832, while living in Ernestown, Upper Canada, Hannah Terry and her husband Parshall were visited by early Latter-day Saint missionaries, including Brigham Young and Joseph Young. According to the history by Freda Sharp Jones, Hannah received a powerful and distinct spiritual manifestation that the Book of Mormon was true. This divine witness was so profound that she and her husband were baptized immediately, despite the social ostracization that followed in their community. Hannah described this as a clear, audible-like confirmation to her soul that guided her through the remainder of her life's hardships.
