Alice Parker Balmforth — Miraculous Healing and Temple Prophecy

Alice Parker Balmforth, the ancestor addressed in Iva Balmforth Price's manuscript, suffered from a prolonged and debilitating illness during the early years of the Cotton Mission in St. George. According to the family history preserved by Price, Alice was bedridden and unable to care for her children for many months. Her husband, Charles Balmforth, eventually called for the local Priesthood elders to administer to her. During the blessing, Alice was promised that she would be restored to health and would live to perform a great work in the St. George Temple. Following this administration, her health began to improve immediately and she eventually made a full recovery. This account is considered a foundational miracle for the Balmforth family, as Alice went on to become one of the most dedicated ordinance workers in the St. George Temple following its dedication in 1877, literally fulfilling the prophecy made during her illness.
