George Q. Cannon's Vision and Conversation with the Savior

During the priesthood leadership meetings held in the Salt Lake Temple on 19-20 April 1893, immediately following the dedication, First Counselor George Q. Cannon bore testimony of his personal experiences with the Savior. He declared, "My mind has been rapt in vision and have saw the beauties and Glory of God. I have saw and conversed with the Savior face to face." Cannon's testimony, shared with the gathered priesthood leaders in the newly dedicated temple, confirmed that the dedicatory season had been attended by heavenly manifestations, including direct visionary communion with the Lord Jesus Christ. The experience underscored Cannon's own 1871 prophecy that the completed temple would be attended by unprecedented manifestations of the goodness of God, a prophecy now fulfilled in his own firsthand vision of the Savior.
