Gordon Silas Beckstead: An Early Latter-day Saint Pioneer (1825–1891)

Gordon Silas Beckstead (1825–1891) was a Latter Day Saint pioneer who became a member of the Church in the earliest years of the Restoration (between 1830 and 1848), among those who heard the gospel in the days of the Prophet Joseph Smith and gathered with the Saints. He settled in the Utah valleys and was part of the Beckstead family that helped build up the South Jordan and West Jordan communities of the Salt Lake Valley. Brother Beckstead's life is a faith-promoting witness of the earliest converts who, in the lifetime of the Prophet Joseph, joined the restored Church and then walked west to Zion.
