Rebecca Bean: Missionary and Caretaker of the Joseph Smith Farm

Rebecca Bean, the wife of Willard Washington Bean, served with her husband for more than twenty-four years as a missionary and caretaker of the Joseph Smith Farm in Palmyra, New York—the very place where the Restoration began. In August 1915 she gave birth to a daughter, Palmyra Bean, in the Prophet Joseph Smith's own home, a quiet and sacred sign of the family's consecration. Sister Bean's faith and testimony, shared in fireside addresses and remembered in the family's records, helped the Saints reclaim and hallow the places where the Father and the Son appeared and where the plates were delivered to the young Prophet. Her life is a faith-promoting witness of the faithful women who serve unseen, guarding the sacred places of the Restoration.
