Paul Bailey: LDS Chronicler of Mormon Pioneer History (1906–1987)

Paul Dayton Bailey (1906–1987) was one of the twentieth century's most prolific and respected chroniclers of Mormon pioneer history and Western Americana. A faithful Latter-day Saint, he wrote 'Jacob Hamblin: Buckskin Apostle' (the life of the great missionary to the Native Americans of the Southwest), 'Sam Brannan and the California Mormons,' 'Wovoka: The Indian Messiah,' and 'For Time and All Eternity,' among many works. Through careful research and a believing heart, Brother Bailey brought the stories of the Latter-day Saint pioneers—and of the broader settlement of the American West—before a wide readership, testifying through history of the Lord's hand in the gathering and the pioneer era.
